Water

Fruitland's water production and storage system consists of a microfiltration membrane water treatment plant and three storage tanks: a 200,000 gallon elevated tank, a 1,000,000 gallon ground level tank, and a 1,200,000 gallon ground level tank equipped with four booster pumps.

Gravity pressure in the elevated tank provides enough water pressure to service the city. An additional high pressure booster pump has been added to create a high pressure zone for land south of city limits. The water level in the elevated tank is maintained by the water treatment plant and booster pumps that move water from the ground level tanks into the elevated tank.

The city's wells have been turned off and are kept on active reserve to be used in case of an emergency. A computerized control system operates the treatment plant and wells to automatically fill the storage tanks in response to decreasing water levels. Diesel-fueled backup generators provide power for the water treatment plant and booster pumps during electrical outages.

       Treated drinking water is required to be chlorinated, therefore there will be a constant chlorine residual in the water. Each year the city produces a Consumer Confidence Report that may be reviewed at City Hall.

 

 

 

 

Utility Rates

The following rates are for a 3/4" service line:

Monthly water rate is $46.50 per month per ERU, this includes 6,000 gallons of usage per ERU. Any usage beyond 6,000 gallons is $5.50 per each 1,000 gallons used.

Monthly sewer rate is $37.80.

A Minimum bill with up to 6,000 gallons usage is 84.30.

 

Backflow prevention devices are required at the point from which the water for irrigation is taken from the public water supply. Backflow devices are required to be inspected and tested annually.
